Ahhh Spring – a time of renewal and spring break vacations!
If you are a dog parent, then spring break means either finding a friend or family member to dog-sit, choosing a dog daycare provider, or traveling with your dog.
If you’ve decided to take your dog on the road with you this spring, here are some tips to ensure you – and your dog – have a great spring break vacation:
Make sure your dog is wearing a collar with current tags, and has proper identification. If you have not had your dog microchipped, consider doing so before you leave. Microchipping is a simple procedure which can be done at your vet office and can ensure the safe return of your dog should he get lost while traveling.
It’s always a good idea to bring your dog’s medical records along with you, as well as the phone number for your vet so you have this information handy should you need it when away from home.
Packing for your Pet
Just like packing for the other members of your family, you’ll want to think about the following items and plan to pack them to be sure you have what you need while on the road:
- Food and treats
- Leash and collar
- Water and food bowls
- Crate & bedding
- Dog pick-up bags
Keeping these tips in mind will ensure a more enjoyable trip for you – and your dog!
